Regional Features of Arizona

Arizona is a beautiful state with expansive red earth, represented by the Grand Canyon, and piercing blue skies. In recent years, it has also been called the "Silicon Desert," developing rapidly as a cluster for the semiconductor and high-tech industries, with a succession of Japanese companies moving into the area. The climate is desert-like, and while it becomes very hot during summer days, it's known as "dry heat" due to the low humidity, feeling cool once you step into the shade. Winters are mild and pleasant, attracting people from all over the world as a winter escape. The food culture is strongly influenced by Mexico, and its Sonoran-style Mexican food is famous; the Sonoran Dog, a hot dog wrapped in bacon, and the Chimichanga, a crispy deep-fried burrito, are must-eat local foods. Historically, Route 66, which retains the vestiges of the Old West era, crosses the state, allowing you to enjoy nostalgic townscapes while driving. Additionally, the cultures of Indigenous peoples such as the Navajo and Hopi remain strong, and their turquoise jewelry and sophisticated weavings are highly valued as works of art. With an abundance of golf courses and spa resorts, it is a region where a sophisticated urban lifestyle coexists with the dynamic nature of the wilderness.
