Regional Features of Tennessee

Tennessee

Tennessee is a state where the soul of American music resides, while also thriving economically as a major automotive manufacturing hub. The capital, Nashville, is known as the "Country Music Capital of the World" where live performances echo from venues throughout the city. Memphis is celebrated as the "Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll" and "Home of the Blues", filled with spots for music fans such as Graceland, the former estate of Elvis Presley. As there is no state income tax on wages, the economic benefits are significant. The food culture is passionate; Nashville’s "Hot Chicken" (extra-spicy fried chicken) has become a nationwide sensation. Memphis-style barbecue is famous for its dry rub ribs, rubbed with spices rather than slathered in sweet sauce, creating a smoky aroma that stimulates the appetite. Touring the world-famous Tennessee whiskey distilleries is another sophisticated pleasure. In the east, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers stunning autumn foliage and a mystical synchronized firefly phenomenon in June. The people are exceptionally friendly, the cost of living is low, and with world-class entertainment at your doorstep, it is a state full of vitality and charm.
